Yuvraj father was a former Indian fastest bowler and also a movie star of Punjabi and his younger brother Zoraver Singh was a best know Indian all round Cricketer, Since 2000.

Yuvraj is suffering from a Lung tumor from May 2011, next from the world cup which can be clearly seen with his degrading performance in his of West Indies and England. Later he took treatment for it and got normal by October but from couple of days it seems that that tumor had turned into cancer. So this time he went to London Cancer Research Institute in BostonUSA where chemotherapy treatment is undergoing

Yuvraj had first seen in as a Capitan of Under-19 Punjab cricket team. He had scored 358 runs at the Keenan stadium in Jamshedpur against Bihar U-19.Yuvaraj thenafter had selected for u-19 World Cup which held in Sri Lanka in the Jan 2000 in which he was just a part of the team to which Mohammed Kaif was the Capitan and won the match. Then National Cricket Academy in Bangalore had selected him in 2000.

Yuvraj had made entry into One Day International (ODI) by debut against Kenya on October 3, 2000 at the time of ICC knockout Trophy. He had gained half century very soon a 84 off 82 balls which is against the Australians. His one of the memorable innings was with Mohammed Kaif against England in the Natwest Series final which held in July 2002, In which yuvi played very well by bringing India with victory. By this he led for the selection of the 2003 Cricket World Cup.

Yuvraj entered his Test first against New Zealand in Mohali stadium in the presence of his home crowd i.e. in Punjab but the regular captain Sourav Ganguly was not their in that match. He in the starting had paired up with Virender Sehwag as opening partner but due to some poor matches in Border-Gavaskar Trophy which is against Australia he was replaced with Gautam Gambir. Later he recalled into Test team to bat in no. 6 position for Zimbabwe series in the year 2005 of August when Sachin Tendulkar has not played due to Tennis elbow.  His test innings are not so worthy but he had played some good innings among them. In Test cricket, his highest score was 169 against Pakistan.

His Debut into T20 was on September 13, 2007 against Scotland. Later in the same week i.e. on Sep 19, 2007 in the T20 match against England, he had secured many records in the International cricket. He had hit six consecutive sixes in an over which is an unachievable feat in International cricket upto now and also bagged the fastest 50 which is not achieved by anyone in any form of cricket. In the Earlier Cricket world cup of 2011, he got the man of the tournament award for his marvelous play with outstanding performances in each and every match.  His score in that match is 362 runs in batting field and also took 15 wickets in the total tournament.
